What do you think of the turn play? Check-calling to risky?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you have to bet this turn. If SB raises the field, I think you can fold, though. SB calling 2 on the turn worries me, as well, as he could well have QQ and just be scared of all the aggression.

I can't believe I missed this.

Call the flop, raise the turn.

Then what happens when UTG raises on the flop and takes control of the hand which I thought there was a decent chance of. I also thought there was some chance he would 3bet which would be good probably. To cheif, I didn't want to 3bet because what happens if UTG caps? I dont know if he does that with overcards and a flush draw, also I dont know if I am ahead of SB.

If UTG 3-bets, it's probably not with overcards. Even idiots aren't that reckless, most of the time.

This just really seems like a wait 'til the turn hand, as that pot is gigantic on the flop.

Yeah...I forgot SB was the one who 3-bet preflop. Calling down is probably fine after the turn raise.

On the flop I am protecting my hand by raising so that people with overcards and no backdoors are not really getting the odds most likely.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your raise on the flop doesn't do much to protect your hand as the pot is still giving 11.5:1, so overs and even gutshots can call profitably. Raising the turn does much better to protect your hand against overs and gutshots.

While SB might not bet the turn, you have to take the risk IMO because you're not going to protect your hand with a raise on the flop.

That's fine. If UTG raises the flop, hope for a safe card on the turn. If a scare card comes, you can reevaluate your situation, but most likely I'd check-fold if people are still giving a lot of action. If a safe card comes, then bet into UTG and hope that he raises to protect your hand.

(btw, what's IHC?)
