Re: Taking a break from Poker, what to do with Money?
Your parents could open a mutual fund account using the Uniform Gift to Minors Act (UGMA) or Uniform Transfer to Minor Act (UTMA). Which one you use depends on your state.

[/ QUOTE ] Heh, thanks, but I'm not sure on that one. My parents see me play online all the time, but I don't even know if they know I'm playing for real or play money. I think they suspects it is indeed real, but they don't approve really. |

i am not sure you are even breaking the law. sure it is illegal to gamble underaged here in the us, but i am not sure about where the sites are located. there is probably no law with regard to age where the sites are located. Its probably just a rule the sites set up. I am not certian though.

Re: Taking a break from Poker, what to do with Money?
Cash it out and put it in the bank. Donating a portion to charity might ease your guilt. However, the money is not tainted.
You shouldn't feel bad about gambling, unless you are a losing player (which I know you're not), and you lose more than you can afford. Finally, I hope you keep an open mind about all sorts of things. You're young and you still have a lot to learn. Please don't take this as an insult. I'm not a big fan of organized religion, but I respect that you came on here asking for honest replies rather than flames. |

Do you consider this money tainted? It was earned while I was breaking the law. If so, what should be done? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, the money is tainted. You should transfer it to my account immediately. |

What matters is where you sit while engaging in the activity. |

Re: Taking a break from Poker, what to do with Money?
Is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" a Christian principle? (I can't remember if that's where it came from.)
I kind of wondered if poker is really compatible with this principle. It doesn't seem to be, as I wouldn't have others take my money at this game. That would be foolish. eastbay |

And your not going to get upset here, or well, you shouldn't if you are serious about it, so why would it be wrong, for you to take money from the lesser skilled players, if you expect the same. |

Re: Taking a break from Poker, what to do with Money?
Its obvious that you feel uncomfortable with the status quo and your faith. This is an undisputable reason to wait til you fell they are aligned.
I would not say the money is tainted, but if you think so, then thats what matters. If you are going to keep the money, put it in ING or something simple so u have access to it again with relative ease when its time to play. As for gabling and christianity, I am no authority on the issue, but I am a Christian. I believe that as long as I dotn encourage people who can't afford to lose their money to gamble, I'm safe. But again, its up to you when it comes time. |
