My only point is that the general pattern of events since the Presidential election seems to be one of reflexive obstructionism. Its my interpretation of the totality of events I see coming out of DC.

So my post is "like the general tone from the right wing, when opposed on any viewpoint, these days is generally childish and petulant" but yet only one person has discussed the merits or shortcomings of CAFTA, that being Nicky G. Instead, you and thatpfunk are more interested in attacking me and my use of the word obstructionist. Very telling in my opinion.

Perhaps instead of attempting to show off your vast vocabulary you should use it communicate your ideas more effectively.

I don't like pointless arguments on here, but when you word a post as you did, you beg for sarcasm and responses with the same abrasive tone.

Sarcasm and abrasive tone doesnt bother me. I was merely referring to the lack of discussion of the merits of CAFTA even after I clarified my statement regarding obstructionism, which I thought I did fairly calmly and logically. Sorry if the OP was so incredibly divisive that you couldnt help but respond in the manner that you did. I'll post nicer next time and use lots of smilies. No worries. Still writing term papers? That would put Mother Theresa in a bad mood.

CAFTA provides a unique chance to support these young democracies. As Deputy Secretary of State Bob Zoellick said in a recent speech: "CAFTA matters most to them [CAFTA heads of state] because it will strengthen the foundations of democracy by promoting growth and cutting poverty, creating equality of opportunity, and reducing corruption."

[/ QUOTE ]

Claiming that signing free trade agreements will help countries become more democratic is totally asinine. This guy Brookes is a joke.

Try reading The Road to Serfdom by Hayek and then rethink that position.
