Because Kyoto doesn't limit polution from China and India on the flawed logic that they don't contribute anywhere near the greenhouse emissions that the US does, a concept that ignores the fact that in 30 years, they will.

Again, what is wrong or dangerous with politicians attempting to keep their city's polution low?

[ QUOTE ] Explain why the two most populous countries in the world should be exemp [/ QUOTE ] Because the authors live in the real world. [/ QUOTE ] WTF??? Are you serious??? Or are you trolling???? [ QUOTE ] Kyoto does not have serious flaws. [/ QUOTE ] How about being ineffective in the fight against global warming? Or how about it looks to me like it's an international con to redistribute America's wealth around the world? Kyoto is a sham. As for these Mayors, some of them are acting out of desperation as changes in weather patterns are drying up hydroelectric power. Other majors are finally taking some much needed steps toward conservation. As for the title of the NY Times article by ELI SANDERS, well it couldn't be much worse. Those majors do not appear to be endorsing Kyoto. The only time Kyoto is brought up is in the title and as a vehicle to slam Bush. Now for the 1,000th time, for those of you who want to know what we should be doing, go here: http://smalley.rice.edu/ And watch the video in the box titled Columbia University - "Our Energy Challenge" while playing a table or two of poker. It's just too bad those majors don't seem to be talking about this stuff. |

I have asked it twice and I need a response to initiate some sort of discussion. |

Kyoto is an absolute joke.
Hey, lets punish the number 1 polluter in the world, who also cleans up more pollution than the rest of the world combined just about. Yet give a free and total pass to the number 2 polluter in the world who cleans up almost nothing. Yea, that will really help the environment. Kyoto is one of the worst and most meaningless treaties ever written by man. |
