Re: the very newbei evolution
Now that Ed Millers new begginer book is out everyone should start off with that. It's a much more natural progression from a begginner 2+2 book, to the more advanced 2+2 books.
So go in this order Getting Started in Hold'Em by Ed Miller Small Stakes Holdem by Miller, Sklansky, Malmuth After reading SSH 4-5x and only after you feel that you TOTALLY understand everything in it, then move on to these other books. Holdem Poker for Advanced Players by David Sklansky Theory of Poker by David Sklansky Then if you wish to start playing in tournaments or playing live 2 other great books. Harrington on Holden (Only for No-Limit Tournaments) Caro's Book of Tells(For playing Live only, no real use for internet Poker) Good luck, you have found the #1 place to really learn poker. The hardest part is already over! -G |

Re: the very newbei evolution

Perhaps it is true. But as a first book I was recommended WLLH. They say that SSHE is worth reading only after several months of playing. [/ QUOTE ] I also started with WLLH, and then read SSH. I think it's a good way to start, but I would not wait for several months. Read WLLH, and play some. If you're winning over a few thousand hands, you can assume you're beating the game and move on to SSH. Study it thoroughly and your win rate should improve immediately. Good luck with your poker career. olavfo |

Re: the very newbei evolution
I would put _Theory of Poker_ ahead of all of the books personally. But, if you don't have a large supply of money to buy books I'd second going with Ed Miller's two Hold 'em books.

Re: the very newbei evolution
TOP is NOT a good first book for a newbie to read, especially if he's primarily interested in learning limit hold em.

Re: the very newbei evolution
Interesting. I suppose my mathematical background, and personal interests, really skew my views here. TOP was the second poker book I read (after HPFAP), and I found it to be extremely useful giving me a foundation for the tactics in SSHE.

Re: the very newbei evolution
I have heard that Ukraine has the prettiest girls in the world (that's probably why you have that ).
I think poker is a great way to make a living for you if you have the talent. Your living standard will be much higher than players at the same level in Western countries. If you beat .50/1 I think you will earn much more than the average Ukranian. |

I have heard that Ukraine has the prettiest girls in the world (that's probably why you have that ). [/ QUOTE ] You are absolutely right! I do not why, but our girls are the best not only by their appearance but by their relationship to men too. That is the main reason, why lots of american and european men come to Ukraine to find their future wives. Our girls are gorgeous, educated, able and eager to do all needed housejobs, very sexy and THEY DO NOT NEED LOTS OF MONEY but just your attention. So, come and you see by your own |
