Re: 12 Reasons Same Sex Marriage Will Ruin Society.
And another thing it amazes me that in the 21st Century, at a time that our nation is in a war, that people in the military still get paid to kill men, but get court martialed if they want to love one

Re: 12 Reasons Same Sex Marriage Will Ruin Society.
Are you aware of the term "slippery slope"?
That is the logic response to your invalid questions. |

Re: 12 Reasons Same Sex Marriage Will Ruin Society.
[ QUOTE ]
Same sex marriage is simply being able to marry the person that you love regardless of their gender. This is vastly different than bigamy and inbreeding. [/ QUOTE ] I am telling you right now that you are no less of a bigot than those who oppose same sex marriage if you believe the above. Marriage should be between two (or more) individuals who are legally capable of consenting to the union. Any other definition leaves gay marriage (and any marriage not currently sanctioned by the state/church) in the lurch. |

The problem comes if siblings want to breed. Then it starts affecting a third party.

If siblings have children there is an incredibly high chance of the kids suffering severe genetic abnormalities. That is the problem.

What about those who have genetically transferable disorders? Do we deny them the right to marry and have kids as well?
What about ugly people? |

Re: 12 Reasons Same Sex Marriage Will Ruin Society.
Your fears/argument: Same-sex marriage would start us down a "slippery slope" towards legalized incest, bestial marriage, polygamy and all kinds of other horrible consequences.
Response: A classic example of the reductio ad absurdum fallacy, it is calculated to create fear in the mind of anyone hearing the argument. It is, of course, absolutely without any merit based on experience. If the argument were true, wouldn't that have already happened in countries where forms of legalized gay marriage already exist? Wouldn't they have 'slid' towards legalized incest and bestial marriage? The reality is that a form of gay marriage has been legal in Scandinavian countries for over many years, and no such legalization has happened, nor has there been a clamor for it. It's a classic scare tactic - making the end scenario so scary and so horrible that the first step should never be taken. Such are the tactics of the fear and hatemongers. If concern over the "slippery slope" were the real motive behind this argument, the advocate of this line of reasoning would be equally vocal about the fact that today, even as you read this, convicted murderers, child molesters, known pedophiles, drug pushers, pimps, black market arms dealers, etc., are quite free to marry, and are doing so. Where's the outrage? Of course there isn't any, and that lack of outrage betrays their real motives. This is an anti-gay issue and not a pro marriage issue. |

Re: 12 Reasons Same Sex Marriage Will Ruin Society.
[ QUOTE ]
Does anyone else find it amusing that when their is a liberal thread that makes pefect sense, the neo-cons ignore it until it goes away? [/ QUOTE ] Not when it comes to global warming/energy. Then again the respectable neo-cons do tend to shut up and I'm left dealing with the trolls. As for same sex marriage, I'm all for unions but gay people can not partake in the ceremony of marriage IMO. Marriage is a religious tradition that has been around for thousands of years. You might as well call a penis a vagina and claim sexual discrimination when anyone tries to correct you. It seems blatantly obvious to me that a lot of gay people that use the term marriage and refuse to use the term union are more about trophy hunting then anything else. Big steve is excluded of course. |
