as somebody said, you do need to just work out your own style. learn fundamentals of NL cash game play, then modify with your own personal touches.

the most valuable book for NL cash games that i have ever read is the starting section about holdem in brunsons super system. read it. (definetly in the orginial super system, may or may not be in ss2) its the section where he just talks about general things, the 'traits' you need to be a good player, and just general ideas.

regarding the specific 'play of hands' section, the section will give you some ideas but you need to just find your own way here. all the advice he gives you in those sections are tools you can use, but there are almost always several ways you can play your cards at any point in the hand, and you need to be flexible in what you can apply. create your own playbook.

Ciaffone for sure. I'm not a fan of Super/System I. The Cloutier book is also decent, but not as good as Ciaffone. These are for cash play, of course. for tournament NL, you can't beat Harrington.

True. This forum is better than any book. And we all know damn well that the 2+2 writing team and other writers are datamining this forum even though they don't post here. Such is the internet.

Hands down, Theory of Poker has helped my NL cash game more than any other book.

In particular, the section on implied odds in pot and no-limit games has improved my income dramatically while making my opponents wonder whether I'm sane.

I have to counter the Tao of Poker comment, I have found that to be an annoyingly passive strategy which would lead to some bad habits.
