You're right, a quick call is usually drawing. However, would you give a totally random opponent credit for calling a pot sized bet with a 4-out gutshot? I err on the side of caution here.

it's more a question of hand ranges and information leakage. with your big hands you want to play big pots and thus you will generally want to bet more on the turn. so if you bet big with your big hands and 1/2 pot with mediocre hands, good players noticed this and will blow you off your hand. you can use position to play a smaller pot by checking the river if you're unsure of his holding, and you have a relatively easy fold on the turn if he raises.

bottom line is, if he's good enough so that you're worried about what he's calling you with, he's also good enough to notice that your bet size has a direct correlation with your hand strength. this is bad.

You really need to bet more on the turn, but that's already been discussed.

I think that you can make it $125 here and safely fold to a push.

Either that or urinate on the table.

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. Unless you have a read on SB that he'll draw to gutshot straights or backdoor flush draws, I don't mind playing a big pot on the end.

All depends on who the opponent is. If it's a nut peddler then I don't pay off their baby set but otherwise you're have to call this, if someone chases runner runner hands and hit when you have top 2 so be it.
