I noticed he was folding a lot to my turn check raises. The majority of them were bluffs.

Checking my PT stats, he made more two pair hands than I made one pair hands. I saw the flop 250 times. I had a pair 23 times. He had two pair 27 times. I think PT takes into account if there's a pair on board but I don't know how to change that. I think that shows how well I was running.

Most of the times I paid off the river were when we'd go 4-5 bets PF and I was pretty sure I had the best hand PF. Like you saw, he would do this with a bunch of junk so I had to go to showdown. Here, I'll show.

Ultimate Bet 100/200 Hold'em (2 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Button raises, Hero 3-bets, Button caps, Hero raises, Button calls.

Flop: (10 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

Turn: (6 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.

River: (10 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 12 BB

Results in white below:
Button has As 5d (two pair, fives and threes).
Hero has Ac Jd (one pair, threes).
Outcome: Button wins 12 BB.

I will spend a lot of time analyzing this session. Maybe I'll even post my thoughts on it.

And yeah, you're right. I did start tilting about half an hour into it.

This is funny, I had almost the exact same thing happen this weekend. Headsup 100/200, I had aces and we went 6 bets preflop when my opoonent had 34o. He didn't win.

Funny thing I posted how a guy capped a 6-2 off and beat my aces full and I got a Who gives a xxxx with the big teddy bear. Also told thats not a bad beat just a bad play by a player that makes us money in the long run. Also am i wrong in assuming that board was scary for aces and you had to. figure to be beat? Also idiots like this pay us off in the long haul. I do feel for you though

I didn't think I was beat until the river when he raised me. He was going 5-6 bets PF with Ax and any pocket pair.

You should move up to a higher limit where they play real poker and and these things don't happen.

Kurosh,

I don't know what your bankroll situation is, but it sounds like you're way over your head financially here. I mean, 15k at 1-2 is 75 bets. Headsup, this is just a rough beating. I mean, it IS alot of dough. But 10k, 20k, 30k, etc. swings will happen when you regularly play these limits, particularly shorthanded. Why not just take occasional shots at the big games (like 20, 30 bets, etc) until you have a COMFORTABLE roll where going off for 15 large will just be one of those days? Good luck my friend.

Jeff

I can see why you would be frusterated, but how about some constructive criticism?

I watched most of that session. I was finishing up my record keeping, while railbirding the 150/300 game. I was suprised to see you issue an open challenge for 100/200HU at a table that contained 4 excellent players and at least (2) shorthanded specialists.

I was more suprised when you were sitting at the 100/200HU table and a known HU specialist sat down that you did not move.

Yes you did take some bad beats in that session. But if you go back and look you made more than your fair share of full houses on junk cards, had several 3-gappers fill in on the river for a straight, and made many small flushes.

IT became apparent to me after about 20 min that you were being outplayed. The things he was doing to outplay you..

1. He was value betting his rivers relentlessly. You were paying off too much. Not that you were paying off excessively, but you were paying off too frequently.

2. I am not sure how much you were semi-bluff checkraising on the turn. But it seemed like he was not paying those off too much. He would look you up randomly, just to keep you honest; but overall he was not paying you off.

3. You were on tilt after the 1st half hour and should have quit.

If you chalk what happened last night to bad luck, you are doomed to go broke. It was not bad luck, you got outplayed, at a limit that is a little high for you. That sucks.

But everybody gets outplayed at times. If I were you I would study the PT replay on that one. Until you can objectively evaluate your performace. Also I would stay away from the high-stakes HU specialists for a while.

Wow. I'd pay for constructive advice like that. And I'm not being sarcastic.

People who complain about bad luck are usually being outplayed and don't even know it. Yes, it may be true that your opponent ran better than usual, but whenever you lose, instead of complaining about the luck, you should focus on all those things that you can control instead. It may well be that you are a much better player than your opponent and he won only because of luck. But regardless, I can guarantee that you didn't play perfect poker, and there are tons of areas that you could focus on for improvement.

The thing is, I'm one of those guys that I hear other people complaining how bad I play but how lucky I get. And they don't even understand a quarter of what's really going on in the game.
