Re: Should Casino Be responsible
Yeah I thought the guy was nutty when he asked to have the deck changed too. I'm just going to email the cardroom manager, I could only talk to the pit at the time because he wasn't around. I didn't make a huge fuss because I didn't want to be one of "those guys" you know the ones kicking and screaming all the time, basically I'm an idiot I should have been loud and voiced my opinion butI was in shock when I see a six and a five on the same card and you figure you have the hand locked, you just have a what the hell moment like if a king came on the river and my five was legit.

Re: Should Casino Be responsible
[ QUOTE ]
One of the players at my table asks to have the deck changed because his card is marked, the dealer says I don't see any mark he's like no it's on the number side. She says it doesn't need to be replaced then, he says yes it does look at it then replace it, she doesn't. [/ QUOTE ] Seems to me this problem started right then when the dealer failed to call the floor. One thing I've read over-and-over in this forum is the dealer is not supposed to be making his own rulings. The player wasn't happy with the resolution so the dealer should have called for help. [ QUOTE ] the 6 on the end I looked at had been white out to look exactly like a 5 [/ QUOTE ] White out = tamper = cheat = casino reputation crisis Was the card intentionally altered or merely worn/defective? |

Re: Should Casino Be responsible
Sorry whiteout is a misnomer, I think it was simply worn, I have to think purposely because it was perfect, but coincedences do happen I guess.

Re: Should Casino Be responsible
[ QUOTE ]
If you have, for example, the 5 of clubs, there will be 5 clubs on the middle of the card. If it's the six of clubs, there are 6 club designs on the middle of the card. He's just saying that if you see 6 spots and the number appears to be a 5, there's a problem with your awareness, and with the deck (and casino...how on earth could someone white-out a card that is in use is beyond me) [/ QUOTE ] You actually pick up your cards so you can see all the spots like you are playing Blackjack? Can I sit next to you? |

Re: Should Casino Be responsible
Although I might just be pissed off enough to never come to that room again, it would be a cold day in hell before they ever do anything about that for you in any room. You might get lucky and get a comp or something if the floorman is sympathetic.

Re: Should Casino Be responsible
I must be a soft mark, because that's what I'd have done if I was working the floor -- give the poor guy a couple comps, apologize, tell table service to expedite the guys orders for the rest of the night, etc... There's nothing else you can really do other than massage the ego. In the end, it was the players responsibility, but there's that little detail about the casino's rep.. something I don't think many floor people take into consideration when making their decisions.

In the end, it was the players responsibility... [/ QUOTE ] In this particular case, I'm not sure about that. I think a player has a reasonable expectation that 5's should look like 5's, and 6's should look like 6's. |
