that's probably a good point. I mean, if I had it my way, I'd bet the flop, check the turn, call the river. at the time, I just thought "crap it would really suck to get check raised and I'm going to take a free turn card anyway." I just know I check raise a lot of A-high flops in that spot against TAG's, even with the A, so I thought he could do the same.

also note I'm the CO here. I hate how teh converter says MP 5 handed, even though it's the CO. there's like a magical line between 1 off and 2 off the button. I raise a lot lighter in the CO

Seems to me like checking the flop here really hurts your Shania against Boom Boom. If you're betting trash on this flop, then you need to bet hands like this to.

in actuality I had 32, took a free card on the flop, called the turn with a gut shot, and folded the nut low on the river. I'm glad I didn't hit my straight because boom boom had 98

Bet the flop. He might check raise you but if so that's when you have to play some poker and earn the big bucks. If that doesn't happen it's perfectly appropriate to check the turn and call a river bet.

Not betting this flop seems horribly bad to me. Won't JBB fold some hands to an ace high board in this spot?

you get respect from the rest of the table on your thin raise. I would fold better hands than yours on the button to an UTG+1 raise, but then again im a girlyman that needs to get pumped up.

How can you not bet the flop ? YOu know johnny wouldn't call your pfr without an A?

I had A3s I think (hearts) I wanted to flop c/r b/c I thought he wouldn't expect an A to do that. After that failed, I figured I was best off betting the whole way.
