I used it on my table (first one built). It's been passable, but not spectacular. When I build another one, I'll definitely go to the effort of building my own rail.

pipe covering?? sounds interesting.. how does this compare to a hand rail?? does it look similar or can you easily tell the difference?

"perfect padded rail" is available as 1-1/4in pipe insulation at your local microbrewery/dairy supply willcall. That guy that sells it for poker tables does sell it at a fair price. The absolute lowest (with the "buddy" discount) I could find cut lengths for was $3.25+ship delivered to the brewery. They would sell it for <$3/ft if I bought 1000ft.
It's adequate once I glued it to the face of the table, I'll be building a rail next time. The look is completely different but the insulation works to keep cards on the table. |
