if you are going to report a suspected fishing email to the actual provider, make sure that you display and copy the full header of the email first, so they can trace the entire route.

It stinks. Ebay does not ask you for personal information through email. Last week I received an email that said I needed to update my account. All I needed to do was click the link and update my credit card information and I would then be able to continue enjoying the ebay experience. The email had all the banners, ebay disclaimer at the bottom and everything to make it look like it was from ebay. First off, I use Paypal to pay for everything I have ever bought on ebay. Second I don't even know if ebay has anyones credit card information. I blasted the email into outer space, promptly went to ebay, and purchased a new sealed copy of Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for $8 which I am currently listening to. For Pete's sake be carfeul.

Actually, I might be wrong but this looks legit to me. I got an e-mail from EBay that pretty much said the same thing, and I found out my account was, in fact, hacked. Just go to ebay's website and contact them about it, don't use the link in the e-mail.

No this is definitely fake. Ebay and Paypal never use live links in their email.

SCAM! Why would ebay need your social security number?

As an avid ebayer with over 2200 feedbacks I know this email you got is a scam. You click the link and put in your ebay id and password. Now the crooks have your ebay ID and password so they can list their high dollar cell phones. Been there and done that (or had that done to me.)

Any email from ebay or paypal will start out Dear.... and have your name on it.

Goto EBay's site. Click support, cut-n-paste the email (the whole thing headers and all) into their form.

Ebay has become a royal pain about somethings, but they really do try to stomp people who spoof/spam with the Ebay name.

Yes, I got this too. I knew it was fake from the grammatical errors, but just for the heck of it I compared the actual link to the displayed link by looking at the html behind the email. They were different. Case closed.

On the Internet it's trivially easy to make something "look real", all you have to do is download the graphics off the site you want to spoof.
