If you play 2/4 or 3/6 - the rake change will actually HELP you clear quicker.
In the past you got 0 points towards the rake for pots in the $10-$19.99 range. Now you will get a half point for all of those pots. So the downside is - more rake Upside - quickeer bonus clearing. I don't know what percent of pots are between $10 and $20 - but it will now take x% less time to clear. |

the pokerroom rake/bonus structure basically works out to 14 cents of bonus received for every 10 cents of attributed rake (140% return). not the most generous deal out there, but +EV if you are already a winning player.
also note that you must play at least $1/2 LHE or 50c/$1 NL to clear this bonus, since rakes below 50c per hand don't count. multitabling $2/4+ is optimal. the new rake structure is better if you have a bonus running, but worse if you don't. |

Sounds like a decent deal. I am at work now so I am not able to research further, but I might give it a shot later on. I read the bonuses stack but expire after 60 days, thats a lot of hands but I think I can handle it. Thanks for the info.

I have cleared bonuses at pokerroom in the past at 2/4 and I know that it was pretty unreasonable to clear their bonuses lower than that. I have a friend who I have introduced to bonus whoring and he doesn't have the BR for 2/4, has the increased rake structure made it feasible to clear a bonus at 1/2 now?

I don't know for ring games (which seem to take forever to clear at Poker Room and Poker Stars) but here is the low down on using tournaments & SnG's to clear the Poker Room bonus.
$1 bonus = 7 PP's cleared $1 vig = 5 PP's $1 bonus = 7/5 vig = $1.40 vig So for every $1 in bonus money you get, you need to pay $1.40 in tournament vig. So to clear a $5 bonus, you would need to play 7 $10+1 SnG's. The bonus expires after 60 days according to their web page. |

[/ QUOTE ] It will make no diff. The rake at 1/2 was always the same 5% - but the take it out $.25 for every $5. If he has $600 in his account- have it pull it out and redeposit it. It's getting money for nothing. $600 = $90 Bonus = 630 points. If he plays a fair amount with his regular roll, that should take 1-2 weeks, MAX. |

Hey, thanks for crunching the numbers.

[/ QUOTE ] Is this true at all limits? If so, it's a great deal for those who play 5/10 and higher. At Party, a reasonably tight 5/10 6 max player gets less bonus than he pays in rake clearing a 5x hands bonus. It's something like 50 cents on the dollar (if I recall my PokerTracker figures correctly). At PokerRoom, a 5/10 5 max player gets more bonus dollars than he feeds to the rake? |

[/ QUOTE ] no, the 140% figure is maximum theoretical rakeback for low limit players (who do the majority of bonus chasing). for pot rakes above $1, then the rakeback equivalent falls below 100%, down to 23% for high limit 5-max (no 6-max on pokerroom). a 5x bonus on party 6-max is worth 40% rakeback, a 7x reload is 28%. |
