Call the raise. You win this WAY too often not to call it. Consider he might be trying to kill-off overcalls with A-rag.

I'd call but I'd think about 3-betting against some people. Folding here would be really bad.

As it turns out, the guy turned over A5. I actually think he played this hand pretty well. He scared the bejesus out of me. For those who advocate 3 betting, why? Do you think that anyone without a straight is going to call the third bet? It seems like any raise you make on the river should always be for value. If he caps or calls the 3 bet (doubtful) I don't expect to win. Why not show it down for one more?

It would be extremely unlikely for you to have a 3 as the preflop raiser. It is much more likely that you are getting out of line with AK. I would definitely expect him to call a 3 bet on the river with aces up or with a lower set. He might even cap a lower set.

I wouldn't fold even if villain came over to my house and showed me his straight.

I feel like that's a -EV play. Somehow.

I think the results of this hand are pretty good evidence that he could hold a hand you beat and call a 3 bet.

Do I have to pay off this raise? The guy who made it is a total and complete donk. He calls with any two preflop regardless of who raises or where the raise comes from. I got the grossest feeling here. Do you call for one more bet?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, you pay off. The river raise could be two pair or a smaller set or a possible bluff.
