I think not betting the flop is not as bad as you and London are making it out to be. A while ago FSUPlayer made a post on if it was +EV or not to auto check heads up with a hand like this (AA,KK,QQ,AK hitting top pair or on a non cooridinated rag flop). Reason being is if you give a free card, in the long run it does not hurt you. You have the best hand pre flop and a free card will help you as much you help him. Obviously then bet on the turn.

I call. You will see AQ, KQ, QQ, JJ very often there.

Without a read, fold, and quickly like someone mentioned. You don't want the table thinking that you just laid down aces or kings. But a 10X pot bet just isn't worth it in that spot. You're gonna be shown a set too many times. AQ spades is also dangerous, even though you're comfortably in the lead in that situation.

But for God's sake, pot that flop.

Checking the flop is not nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

I'd call almost immediately. Just don't see man players wasting a full house or trips on this kind of play when they have no reason to think you're huge. He's just thinking your flop bet means he can bluff would be my guess.

like foxwoods said, i call here. so often a complete idiot will show down 88-99 here, that it is often the case with this massive overbet.

he cannot put you on aces or kings, and know you cant get away from them, to make this a "i know he has AA/KK and cant muck, so i push of honor my flopped boat/trips".

simply say "you have no idea how powerful i am", and call.

It is if you were trying to induce a bluff, got it, and fold anyways.

Against an aggressive opponent, who regularly likes to buy pots if/when he senses weakness in the other player(s), I agree. Makes the villian think hero missed the flop with AK.

However, in this example, I would not make this call 4 out of 5 times. I think villian has trips or better.
