Re: Standard fold pre-flop?
i dont see how you can fold this when its 2 more back to you. i didnt add up the nubmer of bets in there, but im assuming the pot odds + implied odds is more then enough for a call here.
Is this a standard preflop raise though? Id be more inclined to just call and make it a multiway pot (unless this was a tight table, which im assuming its not at .5-1). But then again im weak tight and have no postflop skills |

Re: Standard fold pre-flop?
[ QUOTE ]
But if you're gonna fold the flop barring a seven then why would you make the call with improper odds to hit a set? [/ QUOTE ] We are getting better then 5:1 on the call. How is this improper odds? Assume 5:1. Implied odds needed = 7.5:1 * 4 - 5:1 * 4 = 10 SB = 5 BB We had best be getting back 5 BB from these guys when we hit a set. And then about 3% of the time we will flop an OESD as well. Re: Standard fold pre-flop?
Awful awful fold. You almost had immediate odds to flop a set, much less super huge mega implied odds.

Okay. You've convinced me as usual. How many theories does Clarkmeister have? I know of #1 and I just now have heard of #2. Are there any more? Linky links?

Clarkmesiter's 2nd Law: NEVER fold a pocket pair preflop after you already have one SB (small bet) invested in the pot. [/ QUOTE ] I've never heard that one. I completely agree with it. |

Re: Standard fold pre-flop?
In the future, you should cut off the post at the place you have a question. For example:
[ QUOTE ] Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Raised pre-flop I was the first one in. Opponents haven't seen me play a lot of hands. Also thought I might buy the button with a PF raise. Folded pre-flop cause I felt like I only had two outs. And even if my hand was good I felt like it would be hard for me to continue. Just want to know if my thinking is correct. Also this wasn't a very aggressive table. Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 2 folds, Hero raises, MP2 3-bets, 1 fold, CO caps, 3 folds, Hero ... [/ QUOTE ] As others before me said, this is an easy call. Sometimes, though, your decision will be borderline and you don't want results-oriented responses. |

Re: Standard fold pre-flop?
This fold is [censored] terrible.
Getting 5:1 and you're going to get a ton of action if you hit your set. Much more than 3SB's, that's for damned sure. Rob |

you're getting odds of 5 to 1. You'll flop a seven 8 to 1. Easy fold. [/ QUOTE ] Terrible. Folding this is very bad. The openraise in MP1 is good but not if you'll fold when it's two more back to you 3-handed. |

Re: Standard fold pre-flop?
true, but your not taking into account implied odds, i might call this as long as the players aren't super tight.
