Re: MLB 4/15
[ QUOTE ]
Why do you avoid betting on the weekend? [/ QUOTE ] This goes back to before the internet. I would have a weekly goal and usually hit it by friday, so I would take the weekend off. I think I use this as a phycologicaly advantage too. Early on, in my betting days, I be would up big on friday and lose it all on the weekend OR be down and die chasing. I may just want to avoid that situation. I guess in today's internet world, that really makes no sense to sit till monday. I just feel (and this is only a one person belief) that crazy things happen in baseball on the weekend. I really do not watch the games anyway, so it does not effect me. I am watching todays games in hopes that a favorable play develops either saturday or sunday. But I am less likely to play baseball on the weekend. Does anyone like the over in the Boston game? |

question
[ QUOTE ]
Minnesota (Santana) -149 at Cleveland (Westbrook) [/ QUOTE ] why not take Minnesota at -1.5 to make this an even bet... my english is so bad don't know how to say it... to win 100$ is it really necessary to pay 49$ more just to avoid winning by one point?? ty |

Re: question
That "one point" is pretty significant. Last season Minnesota only won 68 games by more than a run. That's only 42% of the time. Better with Santana. He had 34 starts and Minnestoa won 19 of them by more than one run or 55%. Cleveland won or lost by only one run 100 times last year. They covered the runline about 62% of the time.
Last season with Westbrook on the mound Cleveland won or lost by only one run 22 out of 32 times or 68% of the time. So you want even money that a team who covers 42% of the time beats a team that covers 62% of the time? Or that a pitcher with a 55% track record of covering beats a pitcher with a track record of 68% covers? Doesn't sound too good to me. |

Re: question
I got that particular info from ESPN.com. They have game logs back as far as 2002. It's not exactly user friendly for data crunching and you need to dig through each guys game log to find what you are looking for.

I HATE THE PIRATES
They have a knack for ruining every bet they're involved in, anyone else notice this? The one time I bet on them they lose, the 10 times I bet against them facing a stud starter they win. A-holes!
Houston and Minny came through. Zito will come through as well. He really isn't awful, I swear! |
