It was a pretty passive table as i recall. [/ QUOTE ] Then your line is the best one possible. |

Note: Replying as part of board suggested challenge to improve my play.
Pre-flop: Raise. No action before you, and everyone will probably call for one more bet. Flop: Bet out. TPTK with large pot, the board slightly coordinated (2-flush, straight draw). Someone with QQ would have raised PF; TT might have called PF and might even (incorrectly) slow play the flop. Assuming an 'average' passive table, QT would go for a bet if you didn't, but most likely checking will just give away a free card. Checking the flop to bet the turn does offer some protection, 11:1 with flop bet/calls, 7:1 with flop check, might drive out gutshot draws. Turn: Bet out. No one raised you on the flop, and pot is only getting bigger. TT might still be slowplaying, but QT probably would have raised. 6d is basically a blank, 89 gets 4 more outs and Q6 just got lucky. River: Bet out. No raises on the turn, TT probably would have raised by then. Q7 just got lucky. 89 was getting proper odds to call all the way, in this case even checking the flop wouldn't have helped since the turn improved him to 8 outs and he would still be getting good odds to call. Call any raises, it sucks but would fall under "you want them making those types of loose plays". How'd I do? J |

looks standard to me
raise is fine. flop is somewhat favorable. you can't risk letting it get checked through and giving a flush draw infinite odds to draw out. you have TPTK with no aggression preflop...looks fine to me. |

If you know MP3 or button will commonly bet if checked to i would go for a check raise here. Without any specific reads you played this fine. [/ QUOTE ] ditto felipe |

There's really no way you can c/r the flop like that when you were the PF aggressor. No one showed strength on any street so you have NO reason to slow down. Nice hand. [/ QUOTE ] This is my thought too. You pretty much have to lead out, as as it will be hard to get away with a check raise. |

You played it the only way it could be played.

I think you played it perfectly.
about the checkraise, it's very tough to pull off on a passive table (and this table sure looks passive) if you have absolutely no idea where the bet will be coming from. It's also tough to pull off if you raised pre flop from the blinds. If you raise preflop and check it looks suspicious and you're less likely to get a bet. however let's say you had KQo and didn't raise preflop. Because you didn't raise preflop, I may go for c/r here and hope for a LP bet to face the field with two. (ps: grunching) |

This is the right line.
If you raise PF you should not try a check raise. On the flop you have the best hand so you want to bet it, it is for value and potentially protects you hand. Attempting a check raise after being the only PF raiser is not smart. Even if you didn't raise PF, with a hand like this giving a free card with a failed check-raise is a disaster. |
