25s seems like quite a bit of a stretch here. I am interested as to where it starts getting close and when does it start getting clear cut? Q2s? K2s? What will you guys call with here? I think I'm looking for a suited 1 gapper and Kxs+ to call here. Thoughts?

Some of this discussion depends on what your opponents are calling with. Are 9-handed pots typical in this game? If they are, then your opponents are coming in with stuff like J3o and Q4o, and I suspect the call is not terrible. You're getting 8-1, you're suited, and you're on the button. That may be enough against what are essentially random hands.

If on the other hand, having 9 people in the pot is unusual in this game, I would expect to be facing more hands like 77, 89s, JTs, etc. In this case, all the callers are likely to hold hands that give you problems. Get out.

Of course, if you're in a game that typically has 9 people seeing the flop, you're going to make money hand over fist whether you play this hand or not.

If you knew there would be no raise behind you, it would probably be pretty close.

Really?

Hi Barron,

I did some rough math before posting and figured your odds of flopping a 4-flush, OESD, or 2-pair / fullhouse at about 5:1 against. You're getting 8:1 preflop if there's no raise and the blinds come along. You have a hand that can make big hands, unlike, say J6, Q3, and other truly garbage hands. You'll squeak some value out of one pair flops, gutshot flops, etc. You have position. Seems like a reasonable call if you know you're only going to have to pay 2 to see the flop.

Of course, this situation happens so rarely that it basically doesn't matter what you do. Choose on fun.

my 2 cents.
Eric

I know I started this link, but Havana that is just terrible. I'm calling with 6 people (3 in for two bets) with the expectation that 2 more will come. You're raising after 3 limpers? That isn't even close to an example when this hand should be profitable, that is just tossing chips out the window.

3-bet. This is a powerful hand that thrives on multiway action,AND you have position. Make the limpers pay for playing against you. You'd have to disconnect my mouse to prevent me from raising here.
