Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
[ QUOTE ]
I am getting my head kicked in playing live at the casino but i am running good online. I think the only smart thing to do is take a little break from live play. I believe I'll give it a rest for a week or two and then see how it goes. [/ QUOTE ] I came to that same conclusion two weeks ago... then I went against my decision and played live 3 times since then. I came home a loser all three times (no-limit games). If I wasn't running decently online, I think I'd be close to metatilt (that is, starting new sessions already not playing my best game due to recent playing history). I'm going to Vegas next week; I hope my cold streak doesn't follow me... |

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
this is why im playing full time online now, instead of full time b&m. its much easier to make money and you dont have to have a losing month every once in a while. i still go to ts though sometimes, just to shoot the breeze, but realize that im sacrificing ev to be playing there instead of online.

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
I ran incredibly well live from December to, uhh, like now. It turns out that all of that time, I've played somewhere around 7-10K hands. So basically, 4-5 months is nothing live.

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
I loaded my sessions in StaKing, (very cool program BTW) and it seems to think I am an overall winner for the sessions I have entered but my standard deviation is high.
I think part of my problem is sitting with to short of a stack for my standard deviation. I sit with 20 BB and sometimes I lose it all. I believe I need to sit with 40 BB. Maybe all that will do is allow me to lose twice as much during a losing session. |

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
A bit off topic but...
Played 2-4 at Foxwoods last Sat. with my wife who had NEVER played hold'em before. I had given her about 1/2 hour of instruction prior to sitting. In 3 hours, I lost 14.5BB in a ridiculously soft game. She won 7BB. She felt the game was much easier than I made it sound. Her only criticism was that I made her fold too many hands. After all, she saw people win pots with all kinds of cards I told her not to play! |

How many sessions? How many hours? Whats your SD? I've been using Stat King for the past 6 months or so, I use it for both online and B&M.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm down approximately $1,500 at $8/16. [/ QUOTE ] If this is the Bay 101 8/16, that's a really bad sign. scrub [/ QUOTE ] <100 bets? Is this really that big of a deal? EDIT: I saw that this was all in 3 days--and the first 3 days this player has played live, at that. Is that what you're referring to? The size of the downswing doesn't strike me as that big of a deal, if it's a winning player's downswing and not, uh, standard "losing." [/ QUOTE ] The size of the downswing, the texture of the game, and putting in a ton of hours in a short period of time while losing heavily. scrub |

[/ QUOTE ] If this is the Bay 101 8/16, that's a really bad sign. scrub [/ QUOTE ] Just double checked, it was -$1000 (the first figure was wrong) over 19 hours in 3 days. Pretty crappy and I "shouldn't" have been playing that long, but I was definitely "beating" the game the entire time. They aren't exactly the highest caliber players around. They tend to be a tad too passive and too loose, though there are some weak-tighties and a LAG thrown in usually. Maybe one other TAG (some regular filipino kid who seems to be there every time I am). Anyways, yesterday took $450 off of that loss, so I'm now down about $550 in that game. This can't be all that uncommon and seems like normal variance to me... |

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
total hours 32.5
win rate 32.84 confidence 13.16 SD 171.42 $ per hour I don't really undestand what that means other than I am really streaky, which I already knew. This is B&M since Feburary. |

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
What exactly does the S.D. refer to? Relevance? I know, it's a very stupid question, but I've always noticed it on pokercharts but never thought much about it. Sure is in very large text though.
