Re: Passing out at the table
I recently played for about 22 hours at the Borgata. No problems with drowsiness at the table. However, as soon as I left, I almost died several times on the way home. Next time, I get a room.

Re: Passing out at the table
when hollywood park first opened there was this guy called korean (i think i should leave his name out), who played for 20 some days straight. they let him go upstairs to shower and stuff. one day his wife or mother came and started beating to make him stop and come home. security came and took her away.

Re: Passing out at the table
There is a guy that plays low limit in Detroit, Greektown. He often comes in at 5pm or so and plays through the following night often well past midnight. I like sitting in games with him past the 30 hour mark.

Re: Passing out at the table
You obviously haven't played in California, where this is SOP for many people. There's this frail, old lady who comes in on Fridays, usually at the beginning of the month. She's gotta be like 85, and she plays non-stop until her money is gone, which is usually by about Tuesday. Not kidding. They recently let her start taking naps upstairs, apparently, but I've never seen her leave the table.
People going on 24+ hr benders aren't uncommon at all. I would bet that any given time, there's at least 10% of the players on these runs at most California cardshacks. |

Re: Passing out at the table
Thats me...The one and only time that I have been to AC, I played for 23 hrs straight because I was so excited about actually playing at a casino. I couldn't leave because I was only going to be there one day and I figured I just sleep later.
Fun stuff. -Gryph |

Re: Passing out at the table
during the summer when i played b&m almost every day, i would arrive at bay101 around 10am and play for 6-7 hours and there would be guys still playing from the night before when i left at 4-5pm all the time. I have trouble going there nowadays due to the scummieness of it all.

Re: Passing out at the table
I think 'scumminess' is the right word (if not an understatement).
I would be curious as to Dr. Al's (and other experts) thoughts on the number of people who play for 24 hours straight or fall asleep at the tables, etc etc. The ones who play for 24 hours straight because that is what they set out to do in the first place is one thing. Those who are from a non-casino area taking a vacation to Vegas, AC or Tunica to specifically play poker probably already have it in their mind that they are going to do this. But those who are regular players to begin with who frequently play for 24-30 hours straight or longer (aka: the degenerates) are somewhat fascinating to me. FWIW - I've played with and dealt to people at the BJ tables who have done similar...but it doesn't seem to be as frequent as in poker. |

I've also chatted with players who say they have been playing for 20 hours or more who did NOT appear to be very groggy. [/ QUOTE ] hmmm....for some reason Eric claptons' cocaine popped into my head. I think the longest Ive ever played in a day was about 15 hours, thats really not all that much, but I dont think I could go too much more than that. |
