I really wonder how random the 'disconnect' problem is at Pacific...

Your comments are very interesting to me.

I have noticed that if I am playing very tight for a while, and winning a little, I have been disconnected at very inopportune moments - say, just before I have to pay the BB or the SB, so, by the time I reconnect, (if I can reconnect), I have missed the blinds and have to wait the twenty minutes for them to come round again. (Not like most of the other players who are happy to post late blinds when they join in UTG.) Also, off the top of my head, I think if you miss the SB because of a disconnect you have to pay another BB to join in late.

Up to now, I hadn't thought this was intentional, but, after what you have said, I will pay closer attention as to exactly when my future disconnects occur. Thank you.

but yet....there are plenty of poker rooms connected to casinos out there ( gaming club, etc.). I still have never seen consistantly high preflop % like Pacific at any other place. Not even close.
Casino on Net is the best at sucking 'em in, and their philosophy is to give you that (in a herion analogy) first high and get you hooked after that. Also the only offshore casino that I know of based from the middle east (I'll let you guess where).
They know what they are doing.

I forgot about that! yes, another interesting (i.e. really friggin suspicious) disconnect is right before the SB like you described....and yes you have to shell an extra BB to re-enter because the button has passed before you get back. That happens way too much.

I guess the problem is worse than I thought. I was interested in playing there because the stories I've heard of the players, I was chatting with someone at a party .50/1 table and she said she was getting called down with stuff like bottom pair and A high regularly on a 10/20 table (and she didn't seem like a great player herself) Would be fun to play some higher stakes though

ok, here's another angle....Pacific, as noted earlier, is not big on giving bonuses like Absolute, Party, etc.
But just suppose they have a theory of throwing that money into the games (i.e. preflop prop players) instead? Lets face it, those who play there are there because the games are so juicy, not for any bonus. Tossing some small house money into hands preflop may actually be a more productive way for them to keep the site attractive. In fact it may be a much better inducment to play there than the 20% deposit bonus which leads to rock gardens (absolute).
Say you have ten players on a table who got there with a 20% deposit bonus on a $100 deposit. Thats $200 the site has thrown out to the players. Instead of that, why not take that $200 and throw it out on the tables in a game pre flop to encourage a 'run with the pack' playing style. Have your props play under certain guidelines; a raise from blinds (especially SB) if you have at least 4 limpers; they will always call it. On a 2/4 table thats a $2 investment to bring at least another another $8 onto the table. It encourages wilder action which inflates rakes much better than a rock garden will.
It almost makes too much sense.
