"Poker is rarely boring".

Poker can be quite boring. The novice player who has limited gambling experience may not find the game boring. Once one has logged significant playing time boredom can become overwhelming and is one of the biggest challenges that the experienced player faces.

The main motivator for me is learning.
Almost every session I learn or confirm something interesting for myself. Every new limit I advance to offers new challenges and new strategies to try and counter.
It is usually quite exciting. Ofcourse, I've never played more than four tables at once, and I've never grinded for more than four hours straight, so I don't know how that would feel.
This is just one game, limit holdem, but there are others, if one gets bored. The learning of all these games could last for years.
