I've seen people fold when it's obvious everyone is playing the board.

Raise 'er up.

exactly, you'll cost yourself less than a .25 in extra rake .. but if they fold you get an extra 1/6 of the pot

besides how often does this really come up?

You would think not very often, but I've seen it enough to have to ask the question. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone ever bothered to mention to another player that they're just upping the rake, and lowering their BR.

Hehehe...

I see this every now and then and it does frustrate me.

Just keep this in mind: it impacts your winrate minimally, because it's not often that the board has the nuts.

However, identifying yourself as a player good enough to think about the rake could be -EV. At the very least the other players will see you as being "cheap", which could mean tight.

Hahaha, that's funny. I hadn't thought about it from that point of view. But hey, I just thought about this also, remembering that I'm playing .25/.50, how many of them actually knew what I was talking about?

since your message wasn't, "hey, dummies, we're gonna chop" but rather simply 'rake' i think its fine. if they can't make the connection, the little bit lost to the rake will be made up by the fact that they can't read the board, imo.

Raise. The amount of additional rake will be offset by the number of times some one folds and you get a bigger percentage of the pot.

Yesterday, I bet the river on a nut board and the other player folded.

I like to change it up...

"Blast! I knew this [censored] was rigged! All of you fuckers work for Party Poker don't you? Oh yeah, well I hope you all die by a pack of rabid wombats! - Piece John Nickle"

or during the hand...

"The pot is protected, you guys should fold. - Piece John Nickle"

Thigh, lets assume its capped 3ways = 6.00 which will be .50 raked, maybe .75

which means your share is either .167 or .25 .. 1/3BB to 1/2BB

now if 1 idiot folds, you get an extra 1/6th of the pot before the river + 1/2 of all bets he put in afterwards(lets assume he folds to the first bet)

1/6 of the pot in your example is 1.67 or a little more than 3BB .. worth the risk

here are the situations that this can come up

AKQJT no3flush
royal flushboard
AAAKK(outside of KK)
xxxxA(quads +A)

everything else the board isn't guareenteed to play, these don't come up more than once every 1000hands at most

stop worrying about them
