Re: Need Advice on River
I routinely 3-bet AQo, especially if the raiser opens.

Re: Need Advice on River
[ QUOTE ]
I should have bet the river because I won with the pair of queens. He had AK. [/ QUOTE ] What does Villain having AK have to do with anything? When deciding whether to bet the river, having the best hand is not enough. You have to be a favourite when called. I would have bet the river, but not because he might have had AK. He would have had to call with it for the bet to be correct on this basis alone. Include reads at the very least. Even tentative ones. We need to know what you did. Why should people put any effort into their responses if you don't put any into your post? |

Re: Need Advice on River
That 7 on the river doesnt really change anything. If you were ahead on the turn, you are probably ahead on the river, so bet.
Now, if the river were something like a jack or a club, you would have to check behind. -C. |

Re: Need Advice on River
Worried about a small flush? Why? He raised PF, what cards could he be holding that would be a reasonable PF raise and also make a small flush? If he had a flush, it would likely be a high one, and he would not be check-calling the turn.
Edit: In any event, bet that river. If he check-raises you, the one more bet it will cost you will be far less than the number of times you are ahead. |

I should have bet the river because I won with the pair of queens. He had AK. Thanks for your help. [/ QUOTE ] Ack! That's results oriented thinking. Don't do that. The answer to "Should I have bet the river?" is based on the information you had leading up to that point, and nothing afterwards. |

Re: Need Advice on River
Yes, that is pretty much the exact definition of results oriented thinking.
