I think all-in is a fairly $EV neutral play here. I'd probably fold this for image value on the bubble.
I agree that all-in is a better play somewhere around 1200, maybe closer to 1400 chips. eastbay |

Would anyone consider just putting the BB all-in? You can at least think about laying it down if a big stack comes over the top.

![]() You can ONLY lay down to the 2900 stack. Otherwise you have to race everyone else at the table if they move allin. |

I don't like it much. You want to consider putting in a quarter of your stack and then fold it if someone wants to come over the top?
I guess it's maybe buy-in dependent but that's an invitation to get mugged against decent players. eastbay |

![]() Doesnt really matter too much unless the giant stack reraises. Most of the time giant stack is simply not raising without a good hand, no matter what kind of genius they are. Too many pot committed players here in the blinds. This doesn't mean I am saying to raise preflop, just that it's not that foolhardy to raise a smaller amount, just in case the 2900 chip guy has a hand. Very rarely will they make a move. |

I guess I agree it won't happen that much, but it's something to be aware of. There are also several players in the higher buy-ins who are known for this sort of play and will make it with nothing. eastbay |

![]() Im confused? I'm saying that if you raise to like 500, and the 2900 player moves allin you can fold, but you must call everyone else. I'm not saying I'd do this, or that if I planned to raise I'd do it in this fashion, but it does have some merit in this precise situation, because there is very little chance the big stack will bluff you out, and all the other players involved are pot committed if they choose to play vs your raise. |

My point is that Mr. 2900 now has the opportunity to create a situation where you fold, giving the him the odds to play the short stacks with almost anything because you've juiced the pot. [ QUOTE ] there is very little chance the big stack will bluff you out [/ QUOTE ] Against some players, it's not that unlikely. eastbay |

I fold for 2 reasons...
There is a 20% chance of a bigger pocket pair behind you so you could be a big dog in a race. SB or BB are likely to call with biggish cards meaning you are racing as a coinflip/slight favorite. With your stack better spots to push are ahead... Pokerscott |
