I should add, I do not tip dealers who piss me off.

I really wish dealers had the luxury of not dealing to players who piss them off. IMO, you are tipping the dealer for being quick and competent. If you have personal problems with him, don't take it out on his income.

I give dealers or waiters the benefit of the doubt, but if they are total dicks they should not be tipped.

[/ QUOTE ]

For me it is.
I also think a waiter and dealer are different. I hold a waiter responsible for being polite, but not dealers. They are regularly surrounded with degenerate gamblers who are often cranky and rude, and are dealing with lots of cash and have a job that is more stressful (I know waiting on tables is stressful). I always tip 1, if I havent one a pot in a while I will tip him 2 or 3, same if its a big pot.

I tip 1-2 bucks depending on tip even down to a 2/4 game. They work hard.

That being said, if the dealer has been a dick to me (for some odd reason as I am always friendly and polite), then I might not tip or only tip every other pot. However, that has only happened once to me and I have to be really pissed. I don't expect for them to take any crap from the players and don't judge their tips on how they treat others. In fact, I would prefer if they were rude to obnoxious players. Twofold benefit, it gets them on tilt or they will leave. Either way, I win.

You'd have more luck getting this type of question answered in the "B&M Cardrooms" forum. I did a quick search in that forum for tipping and found this discussion

[/ QUOTE ]

there have been more than that in the b&m section. just search for them.

Umm, tipping is not manditory. I don't have to tip at all if I do not want to. If someone is acting like a dick I am not going reward their behavior by giving them money. The same goes for my waiter in a restaurant. I usually tip between 15% and 20% percent, but if a waiter is rude I have no problem reducing or even elimiating their tip.

ditto.

At my local card room the dealers change shifts every 30 minutes and I tip them $1 every time they get up and usually don't tip when I win a pot. I don't tip them if I haven't won a pot, but I'll tip if I win a big pot. tipping isn't mandatory and I can't have a steady win rate if I'm tipping every pot playing 6-12 and 10-20. I used to tip every pot play 2-4 and 3-6 and it took it's toll after a while. i'll also tip extra if the dealer is good.

Nope no card club in Burnsville. It has a good ring though, I may invest and start one in Burnsville. But my club is Canterbury so I cannot currently complain about the club I play in.

I usually tip $1/pot in small stakes (2-4 through 4-8) and $2/pot bigger stakes (6-12+). I give the same regardless of pot size, dealers sometimes look at me funny when I pick up the blinds and throw them a quarter of the pot but I figure it all evens out when I scoop a monster. If I get a few monsters in a row, the dealer is fun to play with, of the dealer is especially skilled (by skilled I mean very very fast) I'll tip more.

I was playing in a room with high hand jackpots and wasn't sure what the standard was. I saw a guy win $500 for a 10 high straight flush and tip $4, I thought that was a little ridiculous, but I didn't know the standard. I won two jackpots later that night and tipped about 10%, but again I have no idea what's standard here.

I've only stiffed one dealer (on purpose). I had just sat down and got dealt Ac10c flop comes Kc Jc deuce, I raise at CO and get like 5 callers (gorgeous vegas 3-6 game). turn comes Qd giving me broadway with royal flush draw, first to act bets out, everyone folds, I raise, dealer drops the river card (Ace) before first to act can call my raise. I say something to the effect of "WHOA WHOA I raised!" (probably raised my voice, not by much though, nothing unjustified by the situation). first to act mucks and says he'd have mucked anyways. dealer looks at me and literally starts screaming at me "WHAT YOU WANT ME TO GIVE YOU SIX BUCKS NOW?!? I WILL IF IT'S SUCH A BIG DEAL!" mind you I haven't said anything since the initial "what's going on". I say dude it's no big deal everyone makes mistakes I don't need your six bucks. He yells at me "DON'T CALL ME AN [censored] AGAIN OR YOU'RE OUT". Six people at the table immediately vouch for me not coming close to calling him an [censored] before I can say anything, and I agree that I didn't call him anything, I was just pointing out that the action wasn't closed. Hey I know people make mistakes if he'd just said "sorry bro [censored] happens I'll pay more attention" he'd have kept getting tips from me no problem, but you can't talk to someone like that and expect them to give you a cut of their winnings. I stiffed him on my pots for the next half hour. When he rotated out he apologized, I said no problem everybody makes mistakes and tipped him the rest of the session. Short story you have to spend a lot of time with these people so be civil, treat people fairly and it'll come back to you, and always, always, always keep in mind that the dealers pay the bills with your tips. If we want dealers that deal like they have 10 years experience we need to pay their bills.

I have yet to play in a B&M casino but am going to Tunica, MS to play in several weeks and I don't plan on tipping anyone. Will everyone at the table think I'm an [censored]? I work hard for my winnings and giving away money out of every pot you win is just like playing against a HUGE rake.

And it's not like the dealer did anything to help you, he just dealt out randomly shuffled cards and had no outcome on the hand.

I don't buy the whole "he deals well" argument either. That's his job, that's all he does is frigging deal cards, he better be good at it. I've dealt hundreds of hands in home games and have had maybe 2 misdeals.
