[ QUOTE ]
You're a fool if you think the middle class pays the majority of the taxes.

[/ QUOTE ]

The top 50% of taxpayers pay 96.03% of all income taxes in the United States. The majority of tax revenue comes in swarm, from income tax payers. Largely left out not paying there fair share, are corporations, and the wealthiest Americans.

Having there tax dollars funneled back into Uncle Sam not again, to Swiss bank accounts and Aruba, is somehow not beneifical to the United States of America?

You'd rather have it sit in a bank and get wiped out by a hurricane instead on some island in the Carribean instead of providing tax credits to low income families and assistance to them?

You're a fool if you think that's how banking systems work.

How old are you, 12?

Would you like to actually make a factual reply of how the progressive tax system has somehow helped the poor rise into the middle or wealthy classes in the last 50 years? Or was $5 Trillion Dollars spent on the war on poverty not enough to do it.

The progressive tax system has definitely helped the poor. It's let them keep more of their own money and given them educational tax credits as well. There are many other ways.

You're a fool if you think the current tax system IS FAIR, and until you provide any sort of factual argument besides name calling and saying I'm "pwned," maybe you should really stop posting as to how the Democrats have in the last 50 years when they were in power somehow raised standard of living/purchasing power & decreased unemployment, purchasing power with liberal policies of handouts.

A flat tax doesn't necessarily mean a simplified tax system. We could, after all, leave all laws currently on the books and just change the marginal tax rate so that everybody pays the same at every income.

You're going to trust a business to decide what its income was and just have them send in a postcard telling the government what it owes?

Anyway, we already have a flat tax system.

Its scary that I have to look to the Eisenhower era fondly for some semblance of a just, sustainable tax code.

Really? I think it's fair that the poor don't even pay taxes. I'm glad we agree there. Secondly, I'm really glad we also agree poor people deserve family allowances to virtually wipe out there financial worries for needs.

Again, that progressive tax system. How did many of the bottom 20% under LBJ and Jimmy Carter actually rise up into the middle class under this 'wonderful system?'

Oh wait, it had the reverse effect. It was Reagan that sent them up giving the highest average incomes to all middle class Americans in relation to CPI prices in U.S. history, damn.

What's so great again about letting loopholes stay open in the progressive tax system that have been in the tax code since the 1960s? There only taking away jobs from the lower skilled workers, not to mention high paying ones as well.

That wasn't fair man!

Some people had to pay a 91% marginal tax rate while those leeches at the bottom only paid 15%! I say we tax the poor more. They can afford it!
