sorry but I'm new. What exactly does mining mean?

[/ QUOTE ]

Getting stats on most of the party regulars, so every table you sit at you have stats on all the fish.

Mining is just observing tables on mass for a little while till you've got everyones play down pat and ready to use at a later date.

Should I be mining before I do?

[/ QUOTE ]

I suppose as a responsible 2+2er, I'm supposed to tell you to mine for a month before sitting down.

But I didn't. I just jumped right in.

I would suggest reading the HUSH forum. A lot. Before jumping in. And find a good starting hands chart for SH.

I think he'll be fine in 1/2 with datamining as he goes along.

the only adjustment needed will be to the larger swings

That's probably the biggest reason why I haven't played the 6-max game yet. At .5/1, I've had a 100BB downswing, an 80BB downswing, etc. I'm not sure how I'll handle a 150BB downswing at double the stakes, especially if I start out with it.

If you normally 4-table, try start out with only 2 tables. Play atleast 1K hands this way, and then add more tables as you feel comfortable.

more tables = more mistakes
more tables = higher hourly frequency of mistakes

So your variance should be lower playing less tables in the beginning, since you will inevitably make more mistakes at the new limit in the beginning.
