It's amazing how overwhelmingly Swedish the turnout was for that tournament. Do you folks play pot-limit 5card draw live in Sweden as well? I've had a blast playing on 24h lately (though I'm not much of a draw player I'm coming to realize).

Nowdays NL holdem is the name of the game in Sweden, mainly because all young players who started playing seriously online, but before online poker 5 card draw was the most common game in homegames I guess. Fixed limit is a casino invention and since there hasnt been any casinos in Sweden until recently pot limit is what most people like.

Draw is quite fun, I find it easier to read players and exploit their tendecies in draw than in holdem because draw is a more simple game.

CalleN, congrats on your good 4th place finish. I'm not surprised that Kapten has won several championships-I had not seen him play before but he was very good. In my opinion, Kapten and Ilmaveivi (the Finnish player who took 3rd) were both much better than the player who finished 2nd.

As to beset7's question as to why so many Swedish players, it's because 24h was started by Swedes and the bulk of the player base is from Sweden or other Scandanavian countries, although I've seen a fair number of players from the Baltic countries, Poland, Ukraine, and Italy as well. Not so many from other European countries. North Americans are rare at 24h-the busy time for cash games and most of the tournaments are not at good times for Americans with jobs

I hope there will be some more big draw tournaments in the future and I hope to do better!

As a side note, the game in the Swedish Nationals of Poker was pot-limit draw until some year in the nineties when it became NLHE. (For Swedes who did not know this: See "Pokerhandboken" by Dan Glimne".) So many old hands here are extremely strong PL draw players.

Most people here (that do not play poker often) think that poker = 5 card draw and does not even know there are other forms of poker. However, that is starting to change as hold'em has become enormously popular here with the internet poker boom and TV poker and all that.

There is still a Championship in 5 card draw, the week after the championship in NLTH, at the same venue.
