I agree with distrb. Not re-raising pf means you proceed with so little further information. So many players are willing to risk their whole stack on QQ and below. Supposing the flop was rags, and you bet heavily into it and you were re-raised big, would you be able to lay the cowboys down then knowing he had bullets? Supposing he had, for example, pocket Jacks and a Jack falls. Your fairly screwed because of lack of information. If he has the bullets, you are going to get another raise pf, and if it is too much to hit your set, it is a hard, but necessary lay down.

Because this guy had you easily covered I think this play is far too risky.
