I play low stakes like you and I usually tip $1 on pots in the $20 neighborhood, pots in the 50$ neighborhood gets maybe $2 and the monster pots of like $100 gets $3. When I go on a rush and win like four monster pots in a row I might toss the dealer a $5 chip. Mind you, to me the B&M experience is still relatively new and fun, so the bottomline doesn't matter as much. I can definitely see the point of the guy who will tip $1/2 no matter what the pot size and maybe some day I'll be in the same spot. Swede [/ QUOTE ] imo, i think that is way too much if you are wanting to play in the long run. |

Paying for parking, uniforms/work clothes, tools or any other expense w/ another job is not considered optional, so why should tipping the dealer be. [/ QUOTE ] Ummm. Because tipping the dealer is optional? |

I pretty much agree, and that's why I pointed out that this is my current practice given that I play casually once in a while. If I start playing more regularly I'm pretty sure I'll cut it down to 1/2 bucks per pot tops.

If a pot is really small, I will often let the dealer know I'll catch him next time around and if there is no next time before the end of their shift I'll toss the $1 to them at that time.
And as sfer mentioned, a dealer who is exceptional is worthly of a separate $1 tip at the end of the shift regardless of whether I took a pot or not. I don't expect favortism for this, rather I hope it reinforces the good habits of the dealer and maybe will lead other dealers to pick up the good habits this one displays. They have to be significantly above average, though. |

I tip a $1 on any pot under $100. (basically the least you won is $50.) Then $2. If I get a few good pots in a 5 or 6 hand span, I may throw $3.When the dealers is tapped out, if they were awesome or brought me a bit of luck, I give him/her an extra 2 or 3. But that is rare.
Look at my AC report in B & M. I questioned a $2 tip on a $5,000 pot. This was not a rare occurance, on these high stake tables, the tip rarely reached $5. BTW, a poster immediately put in my place. |

(basically the least you won is $50.) [/ QUOTE ] Preflop raise AJs, big blind calls. Checked to me on the flop. I bet and the big blind folds. Pot = $12 minus the rake assuming $3/$6 making your tip 10% of the pot . . . maybe you missed the limits this poster was asking about? |
