$60 at Costco or similar store. They're slightly less expensive here, but I'd rather have the suited variety if I were getting ABS chips. Overstock.com did throw in a little humor though:

List Price: $345.00
Our Price: $49.99
You Save: $295.01 (85%)

$345? Only with about 1000% inflation.

So how large of a tournament could you run with 500 chips? 10 person? Larger? What sort of "chip breakdown" would each person get? These would work fine for a ring game too, wouldn't they?

with 500 chips (5 colors... 1, 5, 10, 25, 50) giving out $500 to each player, I can just barely squeeze in 12 people.
But, with my set, if we have more than 10, not everyone will get the same amount of each denomination.. but it will still total $500.
We just mix sets.. I have 2 friends that play a lot who also have 500 11.5g chips.. different styles though. Our games have gotten larger and we often hold 14-20 person tournys.

When I get my set of nexgens Ill get at least 1000, if not 1250 or 1500. Enough to cover tournys and cash games. I just wish they had one more color.

500 chips generally gets you a 10 man tourney, yes.

[/ QUOTE ]I haven't played around with the River Tour chips (I have samples in the mail.) but I expect you can mix those with the "Las Vegas" chips. That gives lots of different chips, although they won't necessarily be all that different.

With some of those new multi-colored edgespots, you can use decent colors for tourneys and hideous colors for cash games. It'll work-out great.

P.S. If you get labels that bring-out the edge-spots, then red-with-white can look pretty different from red-with-purple.
