Re: Reccomendations on good chips and KEM cards
If you order KEM cards, make sure of the return policy. I bought two decks from a local store and got them home, started playing my monthly game and noticed ink spots on the backs of the cards. You MUST check EVERY card for markings. Luckily the store gave me my money back, but I fear the results if I had bought them off e bay and had to deal with one of those guys.
I bought copags from copag.com and love them. A little more expensive but worth the peace of mind. Ben |

Thanks AC. Any suggestions on a site that offer chips that have the amount labeled on them? I've noticed quite a few that don't. I get tired of having to tell everyone how much each color is worth over and over. [/ QUOTE ] I would check out pokersourceonline.com. In brief, if you sign up for a poker site through them ($100 deposit) and play the required number of raked hands, you can get all sorts of free goodies, including chip sets and KEM cards. Many people on this board have patronized that site and have had positive experiences. I believe PSO advertises here on 2+2. I will end this reply now so I don't get too long-winded, but you can search the boards for more info, most likely. Feel free to PM if you have questions. |

What about used casio cards?
This may have been covered previously, but what do you think about the "used" casino cards? I bought a couple of decks at my local poker store with the Golden Nugget logo and sealed with a "verification" seal. Matching design, contrasting colors on the back. Nice feel and barely used at all.......$1.50 per deck. There were also some other casino cards at the same price. I'm not sure who made the cards orginally, but one would think that, if it's "real" casino cards that you're after, this would be the way to go.
Whaddya think? Randy |

Re: What about used casio cards?
cancelled casino decks are fun and I've collected well over 100 different varieties and logos, but for a serious poker game involving real money there are a couple things which make them less than optimal vs. plastic cards:
1. casino cards are made of paper - they will have plastic coating on them but they will not last that long in live play (esp. with some drunk fish at the table) before they get bent, creased or marked up. in real casinos, even the highest quality brands of paper cards like Bee and Gemaco have to be replaced at least once a day, if not even once every 8-hour shift, in order to preserve game integrity. 2. cancelled casino cards often have ink spattered on the edges - in addition to getting drilled down the center or cut on the corners, casinos will throw permanent black ink on the sides of the cards so they cannot be snuck back into the house at a later date. on many cards, the ink will seep deeper than others so that becomes a possible cheating mechanism. 3. casino cards are mostly in "tech-art" print format - the majority of cancelled cards are taken from blackjack tables, whose pips are designed differently for card rankings A through 9 (face cards are the same, unless it is "no-peek"). the left side of those pips will be indented downwards about half an inch, which makes them difficult to lift up and see your hole cards, doubly bad since paper won't bend up like plastic does. |

[/ QUOTE ] The one's I have/seen have ink on the sides from when they canceled and are unusable. Maybe if you bought 10 of the same type you could make a few ususable decks IMO. Love KEMS but my current vote's for Copags. - Fins |

Re: Reccomendations on good chips and KEM cards
copags are great.
kems are cool, but a bit overpriced. the only thing i dont like about the copags is their coloring is a bit on the light side (no deep kem coloring). but i'm fairly confident that they will last longer then kems, cost less, and have nice designs too. stealthcow- |

I bought 20 decks (10 each red and blue) last March. I probably have at least 150 decks from various Casino's.(I also collect Dice) With that said, just can't beat the Copag's.
