Funny you bring this up,
In live games now, if I am down 25 BB or so, I quit and go no matter how good the game this. This could be 1 hour or 10 hours. I set a stop loss for the night because lately though I have had an incredible number of winnings sessions as opposed to losing sesssions, my losing sessions have all been substantial resulting in 30 BB or more. Some of that has to be due to bad play on my part. So 25 BB is it. However, if I am winning I will stay provided: 1. The table remains good 2. I don't get forced moved into a tougher table. Unfortunately this happens a lot which is why I cut my sessions short quite a bit too sometimes. Lawrence |

you should become familiar with the topics on bankroll and money management discussed in "gambling theory and other topics" and then re-assess both your attitude towards quitting/not quitting and your post here.
another thing to consider is that sometimes you will be losing and be playing in a bad game, thus continuing to play for hours and hours is counter-productive. Often times the best policy when you are LOSING is to QUIT THE GAME. That might be the best play you make all night. Quitting a really good game just because you are ahead is equally silly, if not more so. You said it yourself, you're never going to have a big win if you always quit as soon as you get ahead. Leaving a good game just because you won a few pots is bound to be the worst play you made all night. al |
