Re: WSOP \'04 2-7 Lowball Event footage
To quote Master Shake
"Now that I have seen that on TV that is the shiznot!" Seriously, that was probably the best televised poker I have ever seen. |

I believe it's only single draw when playing no limit.

I'm glad they put it up and all, I'll watch any poker, but it became pretty clear to me why it was never televised. |

Re: WSOP \'04 2-7 Lowball Event footage
I do concede that the game itself was fairly uninteresting and fairly difficult to understand for the non-poker initiated (not that I'm accusing you of that) but for the me the best part was the action around the game like everyone eating Lyle Berman's fries or pretty much anything Howard did.
Also, I have a soft spot in my heart for unorthodox games, so for me any non No-limit broadcast is instantly good. |

I enjoyed it because there weren't any cocky young kids playing and running their mouths.

ESPN360 is the future!
I really like Lowball, it seems like a true test of poker skill. |

Re: WSOP \'04 2-7 Lowball Event footage
Was this ever televised? I saw it in the program listings on espn.com but my tivo never recorded it.
Is the video only viewable inside the espn360 application? I'd rather not install their turdware just to watch this. I can't find it on torrentspy or whatever. |

Re: WSOP \'04 2-7 Lowball Event footage
Watching it now. The hand where Chau Giang raises (he says later by mistake) 40k with a Jack-low and then Howard raises all-in with his made 8-low, and then Howard tells Chau that clearly, he had jack-low, and Chau responds that Howard certainly had an 8-low . . .
[censored] scary how good those guys are at reads. Of course, Chau + Howard's lies to the effect that no, of course I didn't have that hand, just add to the fun. |

Re: WSOP \'04 2-7 Lowball Event footage
Yeah the Giang/Lederer mistake 40k raise hand was flat-out scary, but I guess there are only a few hands Chau could have had (King, Queen, Jack, Ten) to not call Howard's raise immediately, and there are only a few hands Howard could have had (Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten). So I guess after thinking about it, its not all that glorious.
Also make sure to watch Raymer's commentary on the final table. He has some nice things to say about Josh Arieh and also some other good stuff. The audio somewhere in the middle got unsynched for me and I couldn't right the ship, but otherwise enjoyable. |

Re: WSOP \'04 2-7 Lowball Event footage
Honestly I found this episode the most insightful, and representative episode of true pro poker players...everyone respectful, seeing some pretty cool ideas of poker bgeing demonstrate (keeping the jack vs. a one card draw) etc. Howard Lederer is funny throughout, and the others have their own weird charm. I wish they would have televised this. ESPN puts on TILT instead. awesome.
