Re: skip $1/$2 and go straight to $2/$4
Steve,
If I were you I'd try and continue to build my bankroll first. A big downslide is inevitable and it's going to cost you a hell of a lot more at 2/4. Luckily it happened to me after I had crushed the 2/4 games for awhile. I took a hit for 150BB at 2/4. It was tough mentally, even though I had the bankroll. Make sure you are ready for this and stay at 1/2 until you are a winner. Like someone else mentioned 3/6 is NOT going to get any easier. |

I also skipped 1/2. There are fine tables to be had there if you look for them though. But if you have the br, skipping it is fine.

Re: skip $1/$2 and go straight to $2/$4
I have had a similar experience at 1/2 myself. I beat .5/1 and i am beating 2/4 but over 15000 hands at 1/2 I got crushed to the tune of $450 with almost identical stats. For whatever reason there seem to be more good players at 1/2 than 2/4. The worst .5/1 players seem to be at the 6max tables but I do not know how to play shorthanded. Good luck.

Re: skip $1/$2 and go straight to $2/$4
OK, you are working at table selection; I misunderstood.
This really boils down to perspective - you are looking for tables over 40, I don't have that high an expectation, i.e., I can beat the table in the range of 37-38-39 so I am satisfied with that. You post seems to be saying you consistently find tables at $2/4 over 40 - It that what you're saying? |

Re: skip $1/$2 and go straight to $2/$4
I will second, third and fourth a few of the responses already. 1/2 is some valuable and cheap experience. I played 20k hands at .5/1 and another 20k at 1/2 even though I had more than enough bankroll to move to 2/4 after .5/1. My bb/100 dropped from 6 to 3 so its tougher but should pay off later. I would also suggest playing some 1/2 6max to work on that shorthanded game.
