Re: A Curriculum to Help My Friend Learn LHE -- Advice?
Sorry if I missed your point. I guess I took it a little too seriously and I do need to lighten up a little sometimes
I am a recovering alky/addict (and not afraid to admit it) and although I understand that college kids are going to party, god knows I did, I know that for "some of us" it goes down a bad road. But all seriousness aside....he sounds like a bright kid with a good future ahead of him. My favorite books are, in no particular order: WLLH, SSH, and TOP. Good luck. |

Re: A Curriculum to Help My Friend Learn LHE -- Advice?
any other suggestions?
clark had a post in books and software within the past month that outlined what books he has "students" read and in what order. EDIT: also play some hands "face up" so he understands the importance of folding hands to raises (AJ/AQ etc) |

Re: A Curriculum to Help My Friend Learn LHE -- Advice?
I started out reading WLLH and it really helped me a lot. I know some people like ITH better (I never read it). I don't think it matters which one of those you choose, either will get him started thinking about how to play closer to correctly.
I would definitely have him play a lot (play money or the really small micros) to try to use the stuff he's read. Also, have him go through the posts in micro and try to answer the questions. Those are usually pretty striaghtforward and will be good after he goes through the hand quizes in whatever book he reads. |
