It seems like this needs to be actively installed on your computer and that you need to accept the user agreement etc.
ummm, are you sure? you seem to be saying it is not something you picked up, but was installed by disk? you got a new maid or something that works for the feds? i'd shake down the 9month old ![]() seriously tho, now i'm curious. keep us posted |

I did a search on my favorite techy site and found that Spysweeper may be generating a false positive for Farsighter.
DSLReports Security forum post The picture posted shows the files found on this other person's computer do not match those referenced in JAque's post. What are you seeing at the same screen in Spysweeper? |

I cant get a screenshot because it's gone, or at least didn't show up on my last spysweeper run.
I'm relieved to know that this could be a known problem. And no, I wasn't implying any foul play here, but that perhaps this could be installed remotely somehow. |

[ QUOTE ] i'm not joking here, but are you sure your wife did not install this to monitor you? [/ QUOTE ] There's no way. I don't think that she even knows how to download a program. [/ QUOTE ] Think outside the box for a second. If your wife has a reason to do this, the actual technical work could have been done by a friend, sibling, lover, private detective, or whomever. No reason she has to do it herself. You may want to install some spyware of your own. Something that can tell you what your computer does when you aren't home. |

Seems to me this is a very common deceptive marketing tactic – offering a Free scan that “detects” some sort of computer problem, then offering to Sell the solution.
I’ve gotten myself all in a lather a few times with those free scans that “found” a virus on my computer that was not really there. I stick with the truly free ones, Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Trend Housecall. They all work, and they are all free. |
