my wife and the other wives are playing tonight. thanks for the good stuff everyone, i've got to think about this too.

it's funny, right? we want the wife to be a good player. what we dread most is that she (they) will become fish, or "who cares?" players.

I was going to point out that I taught my wife to play.

And also that it is customary for players to take off their shirts in celebration when they win a pot with two pair or better.

[ QUOTE ]
Her only knowledge of poker is what she's seen on television.

[/ QUOTE ]

Make sure she knows that what she sees on television is an hour of highlights from about 12 hours of play. This includes a dis-porportionate number of long-shot draws and heavy action. In reality, its mostly everyone folding. Most people I've seen who get their poker "knowledge" from TV want to be in every hand--just like they see the pros doing on ESPN. Make sure she knows when she's beaten and that she's not afraid to fold.

I told my girlfriend she could play any two cards 10 and above for one bet and only pairs 10 and above for more than one bet. Raise if they're suited and no one has yet raised. After the flop call with a pair (obviously its 10s or better) raise with better than a pair. Never fold on the river. Its not perfect but I figured for a quick rundown it was better than nothing...

Best Wishes

What?! You have to con your wife in order to get to see her breasts?
