Most of the casinos are on the boardwark (trop, taj, trump plaza, etc).

A few years ago they started building casinos out the back of the city, which includes the borgata and trump marina.

They have a shuttle that runs around up and down the road behind the boardwalk for a few bucks. They have a max cabfare inside of AC, and I think it's 5 or 6 bucks.

There's a Sheraton in the western part of the city that's often pretty cheap.

If you want to get really cheap, especially on WSOP weekend, the Boardwalk Econolodge next to the Sands is pretty good. Stay the hell away from the Rodeway next to the Hilton and Trop, it smells like ass.

Yahoo's Travel site at http://travel.yahoo.com has a lot of cool things, like clickable maps with casino/hotel locations.

Step one: Confirm your arrival.
Please email us at ep@empirepoker.com, with your username, full name and a confirmation of your attendance.

Step Two: Come and join us, January 15th, at the Trump Marina, at 7:00pm EST.

Hows it that one first confirms their arrival...THEN...goes and joins them?

ALSO

Is this for real...I mean, $150 off a room? That is pretty sweet!

Thanks, lots of good stuff there. Here's a casino map for those who don't know the geography.

I'll probably go, assuming I can get the hotel for the 14th (Saturday) instead of the 15th (Sunday), the day of the event. Anyone have any idea if this is acceptable or if we have to book the hotel for the 15th? Sucks to have a job to have to go to on Monday.

EDIT - Also, will they only refund up to $150 for Trump Marina or can we stay at any hotel and get the refund?

EDIT #2 - Just got this e-mail:

"Dear Player,

As an update to our Special Event in Atlantic City on January 15th -- due to an extensive number of requests,

Empire Poker decided to expand the Hotel Plan by making ALL players entitled to a $150 rebate on ANY hotel in Atlantic City (no need for special rebate code).

So join us for a great evening before the big WSOP event next week!

The EmpirePoker Team"

EDIT #47 - The 15th is Saturday, not Sunday. I'm an idiot and am going to stop talking to myself now.

Homer,

I thought you were a teacher, don't you have off Monday? That is the MLK Holiday.

I'm going to this. I'll see you down there.

Oh sweet, I do have off! Being a teacher is pretty cool. I get paid like [censored] but I only have to work like 12 days a year.

Now my only concern is where do I watch the NFL playoff games on Sunday. Anyone know of any good sportsbars, that is if there even are any in AC?

Uggh, discount rate at Marina is $299, which means it's $149 with the $150 credit from EP! Where is everyone staying?

booking AC for the 15th is definitely better if you are an existing player at the casinos, I personally play mostly blackjack and video poker in the B&M's (because these two games suck online), and leave hold em poker for the computer at home.

Harrah's (where the actual WSOP regional event is taking place) is charging just $99 saturday for total rewards members. this is a steal for saturday night...better book asap. you can probably get the same price for showboat on the upper boardwalk, since harrah's owns that too. but non-member prices are probably more like the usual $150-250 that most places charge for saturday night.

Trump Marina is $239 for existing wild card members, though you might be able to get them to knock off a few bucks with casino play action before checking out. this is not a particularly great resort but they occasionally have some generous offers. January 15th they are doing their "$500 every 10 minutes" giveaway for slots/VP players, and also have a $15 cashback coupon which comes in their bi-monthy mailer. the only reason trump marina hasn't been demolished yet is because they get a lot of the low-roller spinoff action from borgata across the highway.

another idea is to book for FRIDAY night, stay up saturday night and then drive home at like 3am. Friday rates in January are usually 50% less than saturday, and Bally's, Harrah's and Showboat are offering Friday nights FREE via postcard mailers to existing customers.

more later

i also got this email, but i was wondering why empire is doing this. is there anything else going on besides the raffle for a tourney entry? obviously, $150 off a hotel in ac is pretty sweet. i'm just not sure if there is anything that we have to do other than the sign-up/show-up steps. anybody know?

i e-mailed them asking how to RSVP, or is we needed to at all. i also asked whether we needed to bring a receipt for a hotel room purchase to the event itself. i'll let you all know what i find out as soon as i do.

cheers!
