Re: Making of \"Tilt\"
The preview gave a pretty decent idea of what the show is about overall...
And unfortunately, it does not look very promising. Besides Madsen who can probably pull off his character the best, the rest of the cast and the acting looks DREADFUL. Now, one COULD attribute it to the script and the dialogue, but I was always a big fan of Rounders. I found the Rounders dialogue to be very sharp and crisp, however, after listening to the commentary track with Edward Norton, he says that he actually improvised many of the lines (ie. Perogies and Snow). Damon, Norton, Turturro and Malkovich are some of the finest actors in the biz, and its their authentic performances that really make Rounders successful. TILT is missing that. That and Famke Janssen. You can't get too much of her. |

[ QUOTE ]
Quote from that website about the character Eddie: "Handsome, charming, and intuitive...it's easy to see why Eddie is one of the most gifted young poker players in Vegas." [/ QUOTE ] This is clearly true. Just ask Joe Tall about the virtues of being a handsome player. |

To think I used to love the Black Crowes....
Now when I here "Remedy" I have a pavlovian gag reflex and just picture a sharply dressed 38 yr old in Hollywood/Conneticut saying, "edgy music is what we need for the promos here people..very edgy" |

Re: Making of \"Tilt\"
[ QUOTE ]
Wrapped in the shadowy nighttime embrace of the Las Vegas underworld, each episode will take them through casinos, to card tables, and into the seedy back rooms known only to the most dedicated gamblers. As the show unfolds, blood will be shed, past wounds will be reopened, and fortunes will be wagered... [/ QUOTE ] I'm going to go against the consensus and argue that Tilt will be so bad/cheesy...that it will be really good. That "I haven't looked at my cards but I saw your face when you looked at yours" line is a classic already. So bad/cheesy, I'm going to make reference to it many times in the future. Here's to hoping this show is a goldmine of such one-liners. |

Re: Making of \"Tilt\"
From a poker aspect it won't have much to offer, but I will be tuning in and so will the rest of you so shut up with the "I'm way too good a poker player to watch that show" bs you all keep ranting. It won't be the best thing ever, but you will all watch it and find it enjoyable. Acting won't be great (Madsen should hold up his end), but it will still be something worth watching.
Getting tired of reading all the posts about how terrible it will be. Everybody here acts so above it. It is for entertainment purposes not informative poker strategy. |

Re: Making of \"Tilt\"
Agreed. I'm actually in said minority as I'm looking forward to it (or willing to admit that I am).
Madsen is one of the better actors out there -- who else can dance and cut off a dude's ear at the same time? -- and let's not forget that Playmakers was a friggin' riot ... and poker > football. Barron Vangor Toth www.BarronVangorToth.com |

After watching that special I cringed closed my eyes and kept saying over and over "It's written by the Rounders guys, It's written by the Rounders guys."

Re: Making of \"Tilt\"
the commercials for this have already got me and my friends cracking up. we have been calling pocket kings "the matador" for about a week now.
i don't think a game or tourney has gone by without one of us asking another "so, what is your favorite thing to do in poker?", only to get the reply of "lure young bulls into the ring and cut them down....with my favorite hand...pocket kings". from the website it says, and i quote, "the only thing the matador likes more than money, is money." cracks me up how cheesy and stupid that is. who could possibly write that and think it was even remotely cool, let alone not ridiculously stupid. bring on tilt! |

Scott, That's "tall, handsome" by the way. It does work too, trust me, my new line, "So, have you ever dated a professional gambler?" She replies, "Um...no." "Me neither." Peace, Joe Tall |
