Re: The Da Vinci Code: The Movie
you know, the more I think about it, Mel Gibson was clearly the best choice.

Re: The Da Vinci Code: The Movie
first name that came to mind was ford, but he might be slightly old and too suave for the part.
then i thought someone like crowe or the guy from LOR (Strider i think), but they are too musclebound. the character is a real brain, not physically intimidating at all. so...it looks like a hanks type will do okay, i just dont know if i like him doing the part. |

Re: The Da Vinci Code: The Movie
[ QUOTE ]
that'll work. maybe Harrison Ford. Tom Hanks should be good though. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with everything said here except for, "That'll work," and, "Tom Hanks should be good though." I'm a fan of Tom Hanks, but I really don't see him as this character. I just read the book last week, looked up possible plans for a movie on IMDB, and was disappointed to see this casting. I also was thinking of Harrison Ford, but this is probably for two reasons. One, the book had a slight Indiana Jones feel to it, no to mention the fact that the character, Robert Langdon was also a college professor much like Ford's character in the IJ trio. The other reason being that the book actually described Langdon as being a bit like Harrison Ford. Anyways, Tom Hanks just doesn't work for me here, but whatever. It was a good book, and I'm sure with Ron Howard directing, it will be a good movie as well. |

Re: The Da Vinci Code: The Movie
Ron Howard said the best part about getting Hanks was that the character "thinks" a lot, and no one "thinks" better on camera than Hanks.
I disagree with that. The best "thinking" I ever saw was Judd Nelson in "St Elmo's Fire": ALEC: What extra-curricular love life? (then, it hits him like a ton of bricks. You can SEE IT on his face!) What did Kevin tell you? Am I right? Am I right? |
