i hate this situation...not betting the turn invites a bluff (as does not betting the river)...any suggestions for improved play?

My thoughts on this one:

When I raised and Jaran 3-bet (we're playing like TAGs for once), I knew he had a hand. TT-AA, AK. On the flop, his raise gave me some info about my hand, but I was more convinced that it was something like QQ going for a cheap showdown. When he checked the turn I was positive it was QQ/JJ (maybe TT or KK), and I thought there was a 30-40% chance he'd lay it down to a river checkraise.

I think my image was right to pull it off tonight. I dunno though. Anyone like?

My read (since we are playing TAG) had you on AK or KK. I figured you for a c/r on the turn, and thus checked behind. I dunno, I guess I'll have to start the whole "well he thinks I have xx since I made this play, so if I do this he will react this way with xx, but he knows that, so I should do this..." when we play hu (I've got a headache just typing it). Nice play, btw (jerk )

With your read telling you tight pre-flop 3-bet standards, why cap pre-flop? Were you intending a play this aggressive from the beginning?

Better to cap it than fold it.

So when's a spot gonna open up for me on this table?

Yes.

The cap was basically for deception and to help narrow my read on Jaran's potential hands (via his postflop play + the knowledge of him thinking I have AA-AK, KK, QQ). I'm not sure if it's +EV or not. Basically it was intending on moving Jaran off of a better hand or allowing me to walk away more easily from an all undercard flop.
