Steely Dan
Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young)
Fleetwood Mac

A Steely Dan greatest hits album probably won't do them justice - I recommend Pretzel Logic or Katy Lied, but everything up to Gaucho is good.

Queen.

really, they weren't afraid to try & incorporate any genre (from opera to soul) in their music.

oh and "Dream On" turned me on to some of Aerosmith's pre-80's stuff (which i'm lukewarm on, it's not all goodor bad, but kind of nondescript, IMHO)...

"The Pogues"

perhaps the most annoying band of all time. up there with midnight oil.

but kudos on townes van zandt. youd love a band from sweden called able if you love him.

I love the old Aerosmith stuff...basically, everything from back when they were on drugs. Their self-titled debut or "Rocks" would be good places to start. And I'll second the Queen recommendation.

Right now, I'm currently listening to the greatest hits cds of the following artists/groups:

The Eagles - wankers
Hall & Oates- wankers
The Doobie Brothers-wankers, yer kiddin me
Chicago (their earlier stuff (which is flat-out fantastic), not their smarmy 80's power ballad stuff)wankers
Simon & Garfunkelwankers
The Beatles- good

Hopefully that should kind of give you a vague idea of the kind of music I'm liking.
