UM nope then it wouldnt be a "PUBLIC" forum. Im guessing you dont have a lifetime membership to the ACLU lol dont seem real big on free speech from the some of the scary posts you have made.

[/ QUOTE ]

In a private forum, the right to free speech extends no further than the owners/moderators are willing to extend it. This isn't a free speech issue, it's an issue that pertains to the purpose of this forum.

And who decides who is a beginner...and by what means would they decide it.

The point is IF this is a reaction to my post, and I suspect it is given this posters comments in the Raymer thread, than this is a ridiculous reaction and fascist in every way.

I make lots of posts on here on a myriad of subjects...mostly MTT strategy. Ive had like 3 dozen posters PM me thanking me for my contributions to their poker knowledge-thinking. Just bc some people dont want to hear some one elses legitimate feelings about a player they might have a personal affinity for doesnt mean said poster should be banned. I agree comments about peoples appearance...etc. should be banned and in ONE off-hand remark directed to a flamer I made a dumb and irresponsible comment about Greg, for which I apologized within like 15 minutes. To be honest most of the outrageous and insulting comments in the thread were made by "defenders" of Raymer. Ive read some of Desedia's posts, they are inflammatory and sometimes WAY over the top, but to simply call me a troll and ask that I be banned is utterly ridiculous, given what comments I made in the thread. If there are whole threads devoted to 2 hands of Williams which people in which people found his play subpar should those people also be banned?? Why not bc Williams wasnt a regular here and didnt have a gaggle of loudmouths prepared to flood the Sklanky's in boxes with negative messages??

As far as I understood this particular board is for news opinions and takes on WPT players and tourneys, correct?? Isnt Raymer now playing WPT events?? So isnt a thread devoted to Raymer perfectly within the scope of this board??

Basically the guy who asked for me to be banned, or some other sanctions or restrictions to be put in place doesnt have a leg to stand on and I would appreciate it if reasonable posters would stand up be counted and tell him so ;whether you aggree or disagree with my posts in general.

Thanks for the time.

I don't think you should be banned, but I do think you should reconsider your opinions.

However, it is important for you to understand that you don't have a right to free speech or anything else in the 2+2 forums. These are not the steps of city hall.

It's a privately owned forum, and they can ban someone for any reason they choose.

Can we also ban all Jews, Orientals, homosexuals, conservatives, people who like the Yankees, and anyone who doesn't agree with our Socialist ways? Anyone that agrees with me please say "Nazi".

And ban all liberals and Red Sox fans, although that may be redundant.

please dont take this thread personally zaxx, because that was not in fact my intention. i did not know who started the post, nor did i bother to care because its quite obvious that a post with that heading is not going to have any value in it. clearly, the 150 replies are by a majority of people who really arent capable of determining how skillful Raymer in fact really is. Your post isnt the only Raymer post, as I have seen dozens of them. I am not trying to get you banned for making a post such as this, I have no hard feelings towards you whatsoever. you probably werent at all trying to slander the success of a member of the forums, but were in fact interested in understanding how fair a player Raymer in fact really is, for your benefit. I respect this entirely.

this is not the point.

simply, I am discontent with the way this forum has transgressed over the past few months. its not that i want some particular members of the forum banned, i would accept it if i was also banned from the WPT forum, as i should be considering i do not compete at that level. i have a tendency to digest any informative poker literature that is available on the internet. i have read nearly all cardplayer magazine archived articles from writers that intrigue me. i have explored other poker websites, including professional player websites. it is important to me to become the best player that i can be at the fastest pace within reason. that is why i am constantly devouring the high stakes limit holdem forums every day.

i dont mean to offend anyone, nor critize the intentions of any member, i simply would like the WPT forum to transform into its original purpose, which from my understanding, is for players to discuss specific hands theyve seen on tv, or for players who have competed in these tournaments to propose situations for discussion. it is not that i have a problem with the amount of regular posters in the WPT forum, it is that the posts are about who their favorite players are, whether raymer is in fact a pro, how varkonyi is doing, ideas for broadcasting improvement, howard lederers mousepad, latest rumors, contracts, breast augmentations, oakley deals, tv shows, and psychology sessions that the elite players receive. i do not care about the endless amount of irrelevant rumors that are discussed on these forums. while sometimes i may find some intriguing, i would much rather learn how to improve my game by reading strategical content by players who at a level above my own. would it be too much to ask to open up a rumor mill? i do not wish to take anything away from the members of the forum that would like to discuss topics similiar to the ones previously mentioned, i would just like them to be seperated from strategical content.

i just wish that the forum would be divided into 2 seperate parts.

That's not going to happen.

I don't see why you are so caught up on this being the place for actual poker strategy information. It isn't, and it never has been. This is a TV gossip forum and nothing more.

There isn't anything "fascist" involved when a member of a private online forum requests that the moderators take measures designed to make said forum more enjoyable for those who post on it.

If someone came over to your house and frequently annoyed you, your friend would not be a "fascist" if he suggested that you should consider taking measures to restrict that person's access to your home.

The first amendment right to free speech does not extend to private residences, and nor does it extend to privately owned online poker forums.

I understand that there is not an ABSOLUTE freedom of speech in these forums. And to answer your question if someone came over to my house fpr the purpose of talking football and asked me and my friends if they thought my favorite running back was overatted when compared to some other notable football players, it might irk me a lil but no I wouldnt act like a baby and ask him to leave. If I did it would be correct to characterize my actions as fascist. Think soup Nazi, he HAS THE RIGHT to deny service based on whatever criteria(not age sex race..etc etc) he chooses but in so refusing he may be acting like a fascist.
