1) from a purely metaphysical perspective, you're a professional if you say you are.

2) from a practical perspective, here in the US at least, you are a professional if the IRS says it's OK for you to file your poker wins/losses/expenses on Schedule C. [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

A few months ago this question came up. Fossilman gave a fantastic answer to it. It might be worth trying to find that thread. I can't remember the title of it, sorry.
