Default Re: Party Poker bad beat odds?

What part of "a player must use both his hole cards" is so hard for everyone here to understand?

So really no one knows the actual odds of losing with 4 8's. You could say that if you play the lottery everyday you will eventually win, but i doubt it. There has to be a way to figure it out mathimatically.

You would be incorrect to say that about most large lotteries, buying a ticket every day will not guarantee you a win.

Really, your question is badly phrased and ambiguous. The odds are drastically different if everyone calls every hand to the river, or if the game is tough and most hands are won on the flop or before. The actuall odds are somewhere in between, but impossible to calculate since it can never be known exactly how everyone will play. In light of this last point, no, nobody knows the ACTUAL odds, as this number only exists in theory, if at all.

Have you tried posting the same question at the probability section? more of the browsers there will be interested in this kind of thing, and you may get some more usefull feedback.
