I always preferred ... George to Kramer

The funniest character on Seinfeld was Frank Costanza and it isn't even close.

i could see this, but george is more of an "every show" character.

He definitely had the funniest line. When Steinbrenner comes to tell him that George has died, he's silent for a few seconds and then blurts out, "How could you trade Jay Buhner!"

Great choices, I would like to add George Kastanza from Seinfeld, I always thought he carried the show.

Lord Flashheart from Black Adder. Only in a couple of episodes, but they are memorable.
